Rolling bench trays

About rolling benches

Stål & Plast A/S produces a large amount of various ebb/flow trays for rolling benches.

The rolling bench trays are delivered i a large amount of different widths, see the tray program. The tray length is normally not recommended to exceed 20 meters put together. If longer benches are the case, it is recommended to split up the ebb/flow trays in to 2 or more pieces, so the length on one single together-glued unit does not exceed 20 meter.

Installment manual for rolling benches

Conditions
.

Glue-work may only be done when:

  1. Temperature is between 5-25° C.
  2. The weather is dry and the trays are dry.

Sub support of the bench trays.

By a max. load of 70 kg/m2 evenly distributed, the following demands to sub support must be met:

  1. The bench trays must generally be supported with max. 500 mm. space.
  2. A support is placed max. 70 mm. from the glue rim. IMPORTANT: This MUST be under the tray part WITH glue lip, see as an example the drawing below.
  3. A support is placed max. 200 mm. from the edge of the bent tray. Notice the sump (A), which can NOT rest on the sub support.

Installment

The bench trays are placed in the bench frames and distributed so a glue joint appears (B) of between 5 - 8 mm.

Due to variations in temperature the bench tops will “work” lengthwise. Therefore it is necessary to ensure there is some air (C) between the edge of the plate and the edge of the table. The volume of air depends primarily on the bench length, but geographic location and maintenance by the user are also significant. As a rule of thumb, the following calculations may be used:

2a. For installations in cooler regions of the world, e.g. Scandinavia, at 20° Celcius* there should be at least 2 mm of air per linear meter bench top (distributed between both ends). This can be expressed in the following formula: Air = bench length x 0.002.

2b. For installations in warmer regions of the world, e.g. southern Europe, at 20° Celcius* there should be at least 3 mm of air per linear meter bench top (distributed between both ends). This can be expressed in the following formula: Air = bench length x 0.003.

* For every 10° Celcius, the air is changed with 1 mm per linear meter bench top.

The user is advised to place a high priority on maintenance.Never allow empty benches to stand in direct sunlight - and certainly not on warm days since the sun can quickly heat the plastic material up to 60°C.If bench tops are empty, it is recommended that they be protected, e.g. by stacking the benches, shading them, filling with water, etc.

Glue

  1. When the bench trays are correctly placed in the bench frames, the glue is pressed into the grove (NOT between the overlapping of the trays), and any extra glue is scraped off with a steel putty knife.
  2. Always use as little glue as possible. Excessive use will damage the trays which are NOT covered by warranty. As principal rule the use of glue must not exceed 1 litre of glue per 20 meter glue joint (1 tube per 6 meter glue joint).
  3. The glue must dry for at least 24 hours at 20° Celsius. If the temperature is bellow 20° Celsius, the dry time must expected increasing. It`s important that the temperature is kept constant during drying.

Use breath protection and gloves during the time of working with the glue, as the glue contains an organic solvent.
